Welcome to The Southland Tribune, a pilot project that's looking at doing journalism a little bit differently in Southland. (READ MORE).

The Southland Tribune is a Substack digital 'newsletter' that will be sent out via email to subscribers. It’s simple, just add your email address to subscribe.

If you see value in this project from the outset, we'd love for you to also consider jumping on board as a paid subscriber/supporter. You can even join as a 'founding member' if you truly believe in what we are trying to do, and you want to help us build our writing resources. Every dollar will go towards increasing the number of Southland stories we can tell.

Content will also be posted online here and through our social media channels.

The Tribune is here to shine a light on Southland people, its businesses, key issues and the great aspects of this wonderful province.

What you can be assured is The Tribune will be fiercely independent without any political leanings. However, there is one bias we will never shy away from.

We live in New Zealand's 'shit-hottest' region and The Tribune will ensure that is celebrated. We will champion Southland as a region and the people who call it home.

As part of The Tribune project, we deliver a “Sunday Sports Special” to subscribers’ email inboxes each week. It will provide some analysis and generally celebrate Southland sport.

Initially, a majority of the content The Tribune publish will be free for all to read before we start to introduce some subscriber-only articles.

Why subscribe?

Subscribe to get full access to The Southland Tribune digital newsletter and website. Never miss an update. Join as a paying subscriber and you will also support us produce more stories on Southland and its people. Southland’s the greatest place on earth, in our opinion.
