Another impressive showing from new import not enough
Cooper Robb and Alonzo Burton were particularly strong early in the game although the Bulls then went about winning the remaining three quarters to bank a commanding 93-70 victory
Franklin Bulls 93 (Luther Muhammad (27pts, 6ast, 3stls), Josh Scott (18pts, 6ast, 3stls), Dominique Kelman-Poto (13pts, 3rbs), Southland Sharks 70 (Cooper Robb (19pts, 4rbs, 5ast, 6stls), Callum McRae (16pts, 18rbs, 4ast), Alonzo Burton (10pts, 2ast).
There’s no doubt the Southland Sharks have found a missing piece to its puzzle with the introduction of new import Cooper Robb.
Although even another strong performance from the American couldn’t lift the Sharks to back-to-back National Basketball League wins in Invercargill on Sunday.
Last week the Sharks won its first game of the 2024 NBL season when it knocked over the Otago Nuggets in a game that corresponded with Robb’s first outing in the orange singlet.
The Sharks continued where they left off against the Nuggets when they went 20-12 up in the first quarter against the Franklin Bulls at ILT Stadium Southland on Sunday.
Robb and Alonzo Burton were particularly strong early in the game although the Bulls then went about winning the remaining three quarters to bank a commanding 93-70 victory.
While Robb was good for the Sharks, it was the Bulls’ impressive import Luther Muhammad who proved the difference with slick display including a 27-point haul.
The Sharks have little time to look back as they now eye a showdown with Hawke’s Bay in Invercargill on Thursday night.
