Big boost: Cancer Ball pulls in record $97,500

The Cancer Society of Otago Southland has pulled a in $97,500 from its recent Hugo Charitable Trust Southland Cancer Society Coronation Gala Ball.
The event was held at the Ascot Park Hotel on September 2. It has set a new fundraising record by raising the impressive $97,500.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to support individuals and families affected by cancer in the region.
Jonet Warhurst, Marketing and Fundraising Manager for the Cancer Society of Otago and Southland, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support, saying, they are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our community.

The glitz and glamour of the Ballroom at Ascot Park Hotel was befitting for the Coronation theme.
The attention to detail was remarkable, with the staff donning gold bow ties and British ties and sporting Cancer Society daffodil pins. These small yet thoughtful touches added to the elegance of the evening. Guests were served a four-course plated dinner featuring the finest produce showcasing the province’s finest. This together with the outstanding entertainment made for a memorable evening.
Entertainment for the night was provided by two incredible bands, The Lady Killers featuring Tina Cross, Jackie Clarke, and Suzanne Lynch together with local band, The Yardmen.
The Cancer Society extends its heartfelt appreciation to the family of sponsors together with the wider Southland community.
