Councillor takes leave for health reasons
Invercargill City Councillor Peter Kett hasn’t been involved in council duties since October but said he hopes to be in a position to return to council meetings in the new year.
Invercargill City Councillor Peter Kett is on leave from his council role as he deals with some health complications.
Kett hasn’t been involved in council duties since October but has told The Tribune he hopes to be in a position to return to council meetings in the new year.
The long-time councillor said he required surgery on a knee problem, but there were “complications” following that.
It resulted in some extended stays in hospital and he acknowledged he was in a “bad way” at one point.
Kett is now back home recuperating and has been granted leave from his council role, for the moment.
He thanked everyone for the well wishes as he has taken time to recover.
“I’ve just got to take it easy,” Kett said.
He said Mayor Nobby Clark had visited and has been supportive, as has Cr Barry Stewart, who has also visited.
Peter Kett take time to heal , take time to relax, do you and don't worry about council issues. There will be time in the future to return and take your place at the council table again.
Best wishes on a speedy recovery.
