Galbraith Shield: This man's 16-year wait is finally over

“I’d never tasted victory and I’d never actually touched the shield to be honest. I said I’d never touch it until we won it, so it’s been a very long-time."

When Craig Smith arrived at Pirates-Old Boys in 2007 the Galbraith Shield was sitting proudly at the club.

He was a fresh teenager who had just left Southland Boys’ High School.

The year before the then-named Eastern Hawks club had won its first Galbraith Shield.
