Insight: 600 scholarships, over $4 million dollars
"Our board has once again approved funding for up to 65 scholarships, with each recipient receiving $2000 per annum for three years."
Welcome to The Southland Tribune’s “Insight” column we’re leaders of various Southland get an opportunity to share a bit about their organisation. Today ILT CEO Chris Ramsay provides an insight into what’s been happening at the ILT.
Kia ora koutou,
It’s hard to believe that we’re already approaching the midyear mark. It’s an exciting time for us as application open for ILT’s Tertiary Scholarships and our team head out to local schools to connect with year 13 students about this opportunity.
Our board has once again approved funding for up to 65 scholarships, with each recipient receiving $2000 per annum for three years. It’s an initiative that we’re incredibly proud of and since its inception Group ILT has awarded over 600 scholarships, equating to over $4 million dollars.
Something that you may not know is our tertiary scholarship programme doesn’t just apply to school leavers commencing a full-time undergraduate degree in 2024. In fact, it is open to adult students as well, so whether you are 18 or 108, you could be eligible for a scholarship.
Last month, we were delighted to share that The Langlands won a Gold Award at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards. This award speaks volumes about the dedication, perseverance, and outstanding work put in by Leighs Construction Ltd and our ILT team.
The Langlands team has also been selected as a finalist in the Hospitality New Zealand
Awards for Excellence in the Best Hotel category. It’s incredible to see the hard work and dedication of our team being acknowledged at such a high level.
On the funding side of things, we recently had the pleasure of attending two very special occasions for community initiatives that we have provided funding support towards.
The first remarkable project is the redevelopment of Murihiku Marae, driven by Waihōpai Rūnaka. The new facility enables the Rūnaka to expand its community support services, operate as a civil defence emergency centre and provide a hub for educational initiatives in Murihiku Southland. It’s an incredible space, that is a credit to all those involved, well done!
Another project close to our hearts is the Grace Street Project, which officially launched this month. The Grace Street Project aims to create a mixed-use venue in the heart of South City, where people can learn, play, socialise, and connect. We’re excited to see this project progress and have not doubt it will make a positive impact on our community.
We continue to ensure ongoing benefits and future development for the people of Invercargill through meaningful partnerships like these, but we couldn’t do it without your support, so thank you!
Nga mihi
Chris
