Jack Taylor locked in for 2023 and 2024 Stags seasons
“I’m very excited and grateful to have an opportunity to be a part of the stags, a team I’ve grown up watching my whole life and that I’ve dreamed to play for."
Promising hooker Jack Taylor has signed on with the SBS Bank Southland Stags for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
The former Southland Boys’ High School pupil was part of the Highlanders setup during the preseason which included scoring an impressive match-winning try against the Crusaders.
Rugby Southland director of rugby Matt Saunders was pleased to have Taylor locked in for the next two NPC campaigns.
Taylor was part of the Stags campaign last season in a training capacity but it seems will step into a playing role in 2023.
“We are very excited to have Jack onboard. He has shown tremendous growth and development since joining us, and we believe he is ready to play a big part in our 2023 season," Saunders said.
Taylor himself is looking forward to linking with the Stags, later in the season. He is currently based in Dunedin.
“I’m very excited and grateful to have an opportunity to be a part of the stags, a team I’ve grown up watching my whole life and that I’ve dreamed to play for. [I] can’t wait to come home later in the year and do what I can to add to the team environment so we can do our fans and province proud," Taylor said.
Taylor’s re-signing is a boost for Rugby Southland given he is a promising player with national recognition who is keen to continue to push his case playing for Southland.
