Launch: THE SCENE - Southland's Original Music Scene
MASSAV Productions has teamed up with The Southland Tribune to commit to a regular feature piece labelled “THE SCENE - Southland's Original Music Scene”.
We’re excited to today launch a new feature in a quest to shine a brighter spotlight on Southland’s original music scene.
MASSAV Productions has teamed up with The Southland Tribune to bring you “THE SCENE - Southland's Original Music Scene”.
It’s an extension of the partnership where we highlighted various Southlander’s favourite Kiwi songs through New Zealand Music Month in May.
However, THE SCENE will be solely focused on Southland music, and in particular, the artists who produce it.
Each week The Southland Tribune will quiz a Southland artist about their music journey to date and generally help the public get to know our talented local musicians better.
Tribune editor Logan Savory said: “When The Tribune was launched there was a desire to put a focus on Southland music. Through THE SCENE we’ve now taken a step towards sorting that.”
MASSAV Productions director Blair Savory said: "Over the last few years, MASSAV Productions has been promoting local original music through creating opportunities for artists to perform their music live. This initiative with The Southland Tribune is a way for us to help showcase their recorded music. It's the first step in creating more awareness for the original music produced in our region. It's something we are really passionate about".
The first artist profiled as part of THE SCENE is 2020 Southland Entertainer of the Year. Arun O’Connor You can read that piece on O'Connor by clicking here.
