There have been times when the, more often than not locked-up, Rugby Park has sparked the odd sarcastic joke.

Getting to walk on the hallowed Rugby Park turf in Invercargill is like stepping onto the moon.

Someone did it in 1969 but bugger all since. That type of thing.

Yes, it’s a joke very much said in jest.

But the point is Rugby Park in Invercargill has been underutilised for far too long.
