The confidence-boosting victory for Queens Park came after, on the same ground seven days earlier, it was beaten 4-0 by Northern AFC from Dunedin.
“We didn’t play to our best but we dug in and ground out a result which is not something we did last season. We played at our maximum for every win last season.
“We’ve obviously learned now, with more experience, when you are not playing so well just take what you can and grind it out,” Murphy said.
“There’s definitely another two or three gears we can go, we just need a few things to click attacking-wise.”
Queens Park lost its first five games last season so to get a win so early in the 2023 season was also encouraging.
