Shadbolt airport naming likely to come to council vote
"We [Invercargill City Council] are the majority shareholders so we should make a decision on whether we want it or not.”

Mayor Nobby Clark plans to consult Iwi this week, and then other organisations, on the proposed Sir Tim Shadbolt Airport naming.
Although ultimately it will be a decision for the Invercargill City Council to make.
Last month a group of North Island-based Shadbolt supporters made a public plea for the Invercargill Airport to be renamed the Sir Tim Shadbolt Airport in honour of the former long-standing mayor.
The suggestion has gained the backing of Clark, Invercargill’s current mayor, who has now started to progress it.
