Southland Arts Trail is back; artists invited to get involved
“The Southland Arts Trail is an embodiment of our community's artistic spirit."
The Southland Arts Trail is back for its second year, providing an opportunity for artists to open their doors to the public.
Arts Murihiku invites emerging and established creatives, from all genres, guilds and galleries to get involved.
From stand-up comedy to photography, pipe bands to performance, artists from all disciplines are encouraged to join the Southland Arts Trail, share their flair, and perhaps make a creative buck.
The Southland Arts Trail will run from October 6 to 23. During this time art enthusiasts are encouraged grab a map, round up their friends, and create their own route through the region, possibly repeat the process the following weekend with a whole new lineup.
A highlight of the Southland Arts Trail is that curious visitors get a "behind-the-scenes" experience of creativity, while allowing participating artists to connect with their community where they make their work or practice their craft.
Arts Murihiku chair Becs Amundsen said: “The Southland Arts Trail is an embodiment of our community's artistic spirit. Beyond being a journey through studios and galleries, practice rooms and performances, it's a bridge connecting artists and art enthusiasts. It showcases and celebrates the creativity that thrives within Murihiku Southland.”
Lisa Benson, Arts Activator with Arts Murihiku encourages all artists to get involved; “Take this opportunity to share a deeper experience with your audiences and showcase the inside scoop of your creative process.”
