Southland District Council chief executive Cameron McIntosh has been re-appointed for a further two years.
Mayor Rob Scott said he was pleased to announce the extension following the chief executive’s performance appraisal.
“We’re very happy with Cameron’s performance,” he said.
“He has steered the Southland District Council ship through some stormy waters since he was appointed in November 2020, and we look forward to continuing to work with Cameron as we serve the many communities in Southland.”
Under the Local Government Act, a chief executive is appointed for a term of not more than five years. Before the term expires the local authority can decide to re-appoint the chief executive for a term of two more years before the position has to be re-advertised.
Before starting as SDC’s CEO McIntosh had been the director for works and services at Invercargill City Council for 10 years, and previously to that, had been group manager assets and services at Southland District Council.
In 2020, he replaced Steve Ruru who had been SDC’s chief executive for six years.
