A couple of born and bred Southland products - Angus Simmers and Hunter Fahey - got their chance to run onto Rugby Park on Sunday to make their Stags debuts. But that’s really where the positives end in what was a tough outing against Auckland. (READ MORE HERE).

Southland Rams beaten….
It wasn’t an ideal start for the Southland Rams to their 2023 South Island championship campaign on Saturday.
The Shannan Gage-coached Rams hosted the Aoraki Eels at Elles Rd in Invercargill. While the Rams showed plenty of effort the Eels were too good winning 36-16.
Southland’s next assignment will be a trip to the West Coast to take on West Coast on Saturday.
Good news basketball fans... Invercargill to host NZ-Australia series
ILT Stadium Southland has locked in another sporting coup with New Zealand and Australia to square-off in a 3x3 basketball series in Invercargill in October. Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) has announced that its 3x3 men’s and women’s national teams will play in Aotearoa - for the first time ever – from October 25 to 28, when they face Australia in a brand-new Trans-Tasman series.
