New Zealand team named for Davis Cup in Invercargill
The New Zealand team for next month’s Davis Cup tennis tie against Thailand in Invercargill features a mix of experience and promise. Rubin Statham, New Zealand’s most experienced Davis Cup player, has been named in the team alongside Artem Sitak, Ajeet Rai, Isaac Becroft, and Finn Reynolds. (READ MORE HERE).
Queens Park continues to fly Southland flag proudly….
Queens Park AFC claimed arguably its biggest scalp playing in the ODT Southern Premier League.
Queens Park tipped over high-flying Dunedin Club Roslyn Wakari 2-1 at the ILT Football Turf in Invercargill on Saturday.
The experienced Ryo Okuyama scored the first of Queens Park’s goals before the Invercargill club went 2-0 up thanks to an own goal from Roslyn Wakari.
Roslyn Wakari scored soon after before Queens Park hung on to the confidence-boosting 2-1 victory.
It was Queens Park’s first victory over Roslyn Wakari at this level. Queens Park now sits fourth in the 10-team league and eyes a showdown with Queenstown AFC.
