As expected, the Southland Stags team has been given a significant overhaul for its showdown with Bay of Plenty at Rugby Park in Invercargill on Wednesday night. In includes the return of Marty Banks to start at first five-eighth. (READ MORE HERE).

Disney’s Newsies, Jr - Oct 7 & 8 - Civic Theatre, Invercargill
The perfect family holiday musical - Disney’s Newsies, Jr hits the stage at Wikitoria, Civic Theatre Invercargill on October 7.
Based on the Disney film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White, this Jr Script Adaptation by David Simpatico – with Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Jack Feldman, and Book by Harvey Fierstein – is a 60-minute version, written for young performers, of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies JR. features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.
When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys’ expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what’s right.
Including the now-classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies JR. is a timeless story full of spirit and heart.
Produced by StageAntics in partnership with Kennedy School of Music, have cast 35 young performers from 10 to 18 years of age from Invercargill, Gore and Central Otago.
Performances are October 7 and October 8.
