Cathy Irons and Douce Ambiance Jazz Quartet - October 5, 7.30pm - St Mary's (Anglican) Church, Riverton
Douce Ambiance Jazz Quartet performs a captivating programme of light jazz classics that everyone knows and loves, plus some fun extras - all played with the exquisite sound of violin and jazz piano trio.
Cathy Irons, a well-known violinist in the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, will display her incredible versatility, teaming up with top jazz musicians: Dan Robertson on piano, Dougal Canard on double bass, and Doug Brush on drums.
With a wealth of international expertise, rich musicality and virtuosity, the Quartet combine their talents, from relaxed jazz standards to lively Irish folk tunes, passionate tangos and sublime classical melodies. And with Cathy's training in dance acrobatics - who knows? There may just be little more in this concert than music.
