The Invercargill ratepayers have an expected average 9.17% rate rise instore for 2024/2025. At a meeting on Tuesday, Invercargill City Councillors will discuss a draft long-term plan document that will be put out to the public for consultation. (READ MORE HERE).

The hobby comic book store that's paying its way (and growing)
Grey Power and a comic book shop, it’s a unique sort of partnership. But that’s just what has transpired in Invercargill. In July last year, Leon Hartnett and mate Mark Egginton opened a small comic bookstore - Boom Comics - in a former upstairs bedroom at a Dee St property in Invercargill. (READ MORE HERE).
New Invercargill Central store to open next week…
The Ballantynes Select store in Invercargill will officially open to the public on Friday, March 1.
Ballantynes is a historic business with its department store established in Christchurch in 1854.
They have now made the move to open up a Ballantynes Select store as part of the new Invercargill Central development.
Ballantynes has employed four Invercargill staff (all pictured below), Norman Ferreira - the store manager - alongside Shelley Glassey, Linda Tempelman and Averil Rodgers.
The Ballantynes Select store ranges a curated, smaller selection of fashion, accessories, and gifting from its flagship Christchurch store.
