Back-to-back losses for Southland Sharks
Two games into a 20-game round-robin campaign is far too early to be writing any team off, but Sunday’s showdown with Hawke’s Bay on the road all of a sudden has added importance as Guy Molloy’s troops at the Southland Sharks search for some much-needed confidence. (READ MORE HERE).
Public meeting on youth crime…
A public meeting to address recent youth crime in Invercargill will be held this Saturday, April 6, at the Civic Theatre.
Invercargill City Council Mayor Nobby Clark said the purpose of the meeting was to gather input and work towards a solution.
“Our city has experienced an inappropriate level of youth crime, including property crime, stolen vehicles and assault,” Mayor Clark said.
“I am holding a community meeting that will allow those impacted to advise us of their experience and what can be done to manage these issues going forward.”
Elected members, Police, Community Patrol and MP Penny Simmonds were planning to be in attendance to hear concerns.
The meeting will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 7 pm at the Civic Theatre.
Duffy gets Black Caps call up…
Jacob Duffy - whose cricketing journey started in Southland - has been selected in the Blacks Caps for a five T20 game tour of Pakistan starting on April 18.
With 12 frontline players unavailable for the tour, Michael Bracewell will captain a new-look Black Caps side that also contains two potential debutants.
Duffy, 29, has previously played 10 international T20 fixtures and six one-day internationals for New Zealand.

Bluff Oyster & Food Festival - Saturday, May 25 - Bluff
Bluff Oysters have an aura like no other seafood. And what better place to pay homage to the mighty Tio Paruparu than at the Bluff Oyster and Food Festival.
