Transport World to add yet another business to its stable
“There has been a lot of hard work going on in the background, for quite a while now, to bring Toot Sweets to life.”
Transport World is about to add yet another business to its stable of Invercargill attractions.
It will open an inner-city lolly shop called Toot Sweets.
Transport World executive director Joc O’Donnell said it was on track to open in Tay St in mid-2023.
“There has been a lot of hard work going on in the background, for quite a while now, to bring Toot Sweets to life.”
One of the more unusual learning curves in the meantime is learning how to make fudge.
“A few of us have given it a go, and we’re pleased with the results – I think the pineapple lump fudge was quite a hit with our taste testers,” O’Donnell said.
The vision is to create a destination that is fanciful, playful, and nostalgic for visitors and locals alike, O’Donnell said.
“We want Toot Sweets to create an explosion of delightful fun, right in the heart of Invercargill.”
Transport World oversees the world-renowned Bill Richardson Transport World and Classic Motorcycle Mecca collections, New Zealand’s only heavy machinery theme park Dig This Invercargill, boutique accommodation The Lodges at Transport World, and TW Events & Incentives, and now Toot Sweets.
The new lolly shop will not only include indulgent sweet treats, but interactive elements combining edible goodies fun, and even a party room for little guests: making it a destination, not just a lolly shop.
“Here at Transport World we like to create visitor attractions and destinations that appeal to everybody, and Toot Sweets will be no different,” O’Donnell said.
“While we know it has an obvious appeal geared towards children, we hope the young-at-heart will enjoy it just as much.”
I love this idea,l hope it becomes a magical place for kids to visit with wonderful smells and extraordinary lollies and that the staff dress up in unusual and fascinating costumes
