Westpac has confirmed it will move its Invercargill branch into the new city block development later this year.
Westpac NZ Regional Manager for Otago/Southland Philip Taylor said the local Westpac team was excited about the new site.
“We are moving our Invercargill branch to the city’s new mall development - Invercargill Central.”
“Our new two-level site will have a full suite of Smart ATMs with 24-hour secure access.”
The new branch is expected to open in late 2023.
Westpac currently operates on the corner of Kelvin St and Spey St in Invercargill.
It’s understood Westpac will be situated on the corner of Esk St and Dee St as part of the new office building that will open into the Invercargill Central retail and food and beverage precinct.
Westpac’s presence will provide another boost to the city block development, in terms of helping with foot traffic and an increased number of people working in the heart of Invercargill’s CBD.
The wider city redevelopment is bordered by Dee St, Esk St, Kelvin St and Tay St, with the exception of the Kelvin Hotel.
The Invercargill City Council and O’Donnell family have been key investors and drivers of the project.
