The tentative figure for Wachner Place-Lower Esk St work has been estimated at $15 million.

Just before 2000, the Invercargill community united to raise about $10 million. What that got us was a new indoor stadium - Stadium Southland.

Six years later $11m was pulled together to build New Zealand’s first indoor velodrome in the city.

Just last week the Invercargill City Council voted in favour of putting a bus lane through Wachner Place and giving the area a general spruce up.

The tentative cost for that? About $15m.
