What's happened to the Sir Tim Shadbolt airport naming?
It’s understood Monday, February 22 was circled as a possible date for an unveiling. It would have taken place a couple of days after Shadbolt’s 77th birthday. However, that has come and gone.

Plans to officially rename the Invercargill airport terminal in conjunction with former Invercargill mayor Sir Tim Shadbolt’s 77th birthday hasn’t eventuated.
In November the Invercargill City Council voted in favour of renaming the Invercargill airport terminal after Sir Tim Shadbolt.
At the time Invercargill Mayor Nobby Clark indicated it was hoped to have an official unveiling of the new terminal name in mid-February.
It’s understood Monday, February 22 was at one point circled as a potential date for the unveiling. It would have taken place a couple of days after Shadbolt’s 77th birthday.
However, that has come and gone. The Tribune understands there has been some disagreement from various parties around the signage that will be erected to honour Shadbolt as part of the naming.
