Xmas in the Park in Invercargill: A celebration of community and collaboration
Get the pen out and scribble December 17 into the diary - Xmas in the Park is coming to Invercargill again.
This festive season, the community of Invercargill is set for a massive day out with Xmas in the Park, scheduled for December 17th, from 12pm to 7pm at Queens Park.
Massav Productions, in partnership with More FM and the charity Still Mums, is bringing together a showcase of local talent and tasty kai, games for the kids, and more.
This year's event will feature an exciting lineup of local musicians and entertainers curated by Massav Productions.
“We are excited to bring the community together and offer a platform for local talents,” says Blair Savory of Massav Productions.
The stage will be alive with performances from Sam Cullen, Lachie Hayes Band, Cook Island drummers and dancers, The Diagonals, Saints All Male Choir, Folk Infusion, and the Ascot Park Hotel Brass Band and Ensemble.
Even Santa has taken the night off packing the sleigh to head down to the park.
Complementing the entertainment, a range of food trucks will offer all sorts of treats from Brazilian BBQ and Filipino sweet treats to classic fish and chips, Mr Whippy and burgers.
A minor hiccup in the form of a double booking of the Queens Park Band Rotunda led to a serendipitous collaboration with Still Mums.
Jade Duley-Priest, the woman behind Still Mums, shares; “This partnership is a wonderful opportunity for us to raise awareness and support. Our goals were similar: to create a wonderful community day out.”
And for those interested in Parks’ bookings going forward, the Invercargill City Council now has a new sophisticated booking system.
“We’ll need to find our serendipitous collabs elsewhere,” Savory says.
More FM, as a media partner, will be amplifying the event's reach and adding to the festive cheer with their popular radio hosts and engaging content.
“We're thrilled to be part of Xmas in the Park and look forward to bringing our listeners closer to this fantastic community event,” says a spokesperson from More FM.
“We’re so grateful to have the support of SBS, the Invercargill City Council, Community Trust South, ILT and the ILT Foundation,” Savory says.
Join us at Queens Park on December 17th from 12 PM to 7 PM for a day of joy, music, food, and community spirit. For more information, please visit the Massav Facebook Page.
