Zonta says NO to violence against women
The 16 Days of Activism campaign aims to raise awareness and advocate for change to gender-based attitudes and behaviours in order to end violence against women and girls.
The Zonta Club of Invercargill is proud to embark on 16 Days of Activism from November 25 to December 10, alongside Zonta clubs worldwide.
The campaign aims to raise awareness and advocate for change to gender-based attitudes and behaviours in order to end violence against women and girls.
Some of the actions the Zonta Club of Invercargill are undertaking during the 16 Days of Activism are lighting up the fountain on Gala Street in orange (Zonta’s colour for a Brighter Future), putting messages in chalk on the concrete at ILT Stadium Southland with the assistance of a local Ranger Group, holding a display at the Invercargill Library in remembrance of those who have died as a result of gender-based violence, collecting items to donate to Women’s Refuge and sharing posts on social media with statistics on violence against women and survivor stories.
Zonta is a group of professional women and, as part of its focus on empowering women, the Zonta Club of Invercargill currently supports the Murihiku Young Parents Learning Centre (MYPLC) and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.
