SBS SPONSORSHIP should be performance ,based i.e sports teams winning get x amount ,if they lose nothing, bonus $$ for local players, stop rewarding poor performance

Great that they support Tour of Southland. An iconic sports event in Southland. As a young boy in Nightcaps in the 1960's it was the biggest sports event each year, and probably still is in a lot of rural Southland towns. It inspired me to one day " hopefully"ride in Tour of Southland. NEVER...did i dream that i might win it.Sponsorships like that can give young kids in rural Southland....a dream. We'll done SBS for continuing support for Tour of Southland. One day there might be another young kid like me,standing on side of road at Nightcaps High School( we lived opposite and Tour of Southland always went through at lunch time) or Tuatapere,Riverton,Ohai,Winton,Gore,Mataura,Wallacetown,Lumsden,Balfour,Limehills....the list goes on.As Warwick Dalton( who married a Nightcaps girl)and Tino Tabak,Tony Ineson,Des and Ritchie Thomson, Laurie Byers,Barry Harcourt,Ray and Peter Robinson, Bob McKay,Merv Davis Wayne Adams ( who was my handler when won the Tour,1973)etc..etc..raced through Nightcaps. I remember saying to Dad,who was President of Nightcaps Rugby Club " how can they bike 180k plus day after day".Dad said " dream big and if determined enough you could race in the Tour of Southland one day".WELL...that dream came true, and I raced in Tour of Southland approx 10 times.SBS.....I hope you keep that sponsorship going for ever....as I am sure there will be other young rural kids who will dream big because of your SPONSORSHIP. We'll done for choosing that iconic sports event THE TOUR OF SOUTHLAND. Mike.Hughes
