Invercargill architect Bob Simpson says the information was easy enough to find that goes a long way to proving four key pillars in Invercargill are not earthquake prone.
Mr Clark is inclined to vocalise strong points of view prior to hearing and weighing alternative perspectives and information . ….. This might include his grand City sculpture walk idea which is both great but tangential : best to focus on the NEED to link EXISTING city gems of ( amazing) heritage building and galleries and existing city public art , linking and enriching us to WHO WE WERE AND ARE. Old gasworks and trams included. Yep in a promoted walking loop with heritage signboards. Keep it simple. Excite us with WHAT WE’VE ALREADY GOT UNDER OUR NOSES. Think big but LISTEN and harness others’ input before announcing a very specific concept or reaction …? .
I’ve found politicians mostly raise insignificant issues as major live-or-die decisions in an effort to distract from focusing on something else about their term in governance. The future of four large columns sure is a great way to get us to look away from Clark’s vocal hatred of te reo Māori within council organisations.
He doesn't just dislike Te Reo Māori... He is a well known racist amongst local Māori going back to his days at CYFs and then the well publicised falling out at Family start /Murihiku Iwi Whānau Services. He is laughing at all of us like the emperor with no clothes and Bob is one of the few unafraid to speak against him
Bob is forgetting Knobby knows everything and if he says the foundations are to small then obviously they are too small. We cannot let the facts stand in the way if they are inconvenient.
The original council plans for the pillars are in the queue to be digitalised. No need to hurry. We have at least twelve years to either reinforce them or to appeal thr earthquake risk rating of the city.
We get it that our mayor has his own vision but most of the public have other aspirations.
Let’s see what Waka Kotahi think about down grading Wachner Place into an unnecessary bus lane before we destroy any more of our heritage.
Our four pillars of wisdom are unique and need to be treasured
Don't let the truth get in the way of your agenda ay Knobby.
