Stags tap into Olympic champ for inspiration, and make special school visit
The Southland Stags have called on a two-time Olympic champion for inspiration heading into the 2023 National Provincial Championship season. Champion rower Eric Murray visited Invercargill on Tuesday and Wednesday where he addressed the 2023 Stags squad and made a special visit to an Invercargill school. (READ MORE HERE).

Plenty of spots appear to remain up for grabs as the Southland Stags eye a stern test in their final preseason hit out in Dunedin on Friday. The Stags will take on Otago on Friday before their first National Provincial Championship game against Waikato in Invercargill on Sunday, August 6. (READ MORE HERE).

Southland runners to compete for national titles in Taupo
A small contingent of Southland athletes have made the trip to Taupo to compete in Saturday’s national cross-country championships. The team maybe small but it’s a good one, including two returning gold medallists from last year at the same venue. (READ MORE HERE).

Donald Gray Cup - Round 1 - Saturday
The race for the 2023 Donald Gray Cup Southland club football title is about to heat up.
Southland’s top-flight men’s competition started with 12 teams and has now been split into top six and bottom six competitions. The top six will play for the Donald Gray Cup.
Round 1 Donald Gray Cup games:
Old Boys v Te Anau (1pm, Waverley Park)
Thistle v Gore (3pm, ILT Football Turf)
Winton v Queens Park (3pm, Moores Reserve)

The 2023 Netball World Cup is here. The Silver Ferns will open its World Cup campaign against Trinidad & Tobago in South Africa campaign.
