Midlands drop out of premier club rugby competition
In a blow to Southland premier club rugby, the Midlands Rugby Club isn’t expected to play in the 2024 competition. The Winton-based club will instead line up in the second-tier Division One competition next year. (READ MORE HERE).

Parking the stress: Blake Tempero has had to remind himself to park the stress this week and enjoy the moment. At 24, Tempero is young in terms of taking on a head groundsman role at a first-class cricketing venue in New Zealand. He is in his second summer working for the Southland Cricket Association overseeing the Queens Park wicket block in Invercargill. (READ MORE HERE).

Big Week: It’s been a stellar week for Southland’s Brendon Leitch competing in Lamborghini Super Trofeo competitions in Italy. First, Letich won the Super Trofeo Europe series Pro title then went on to finish third in the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals, a coming together of all three global Super Trofeo series including North America and Asia.
