“Despite Mayor Clark’s health challenges and his subsequent apology, the recurring nature of these incidents indicates a critical need for systemic change within our city’s leadership."
How bad does the reputation of the city have to get before you feel he has done enough damage? The fact that the event he spoke at have said they would have to rethink returning it to Invercargill because of him is a big deal.
Understand that, but if anything, this needs a by-election. If the Chamber had installed him as Mayor, then they could remove him, but he was put in by a democratic election and that's how he should leave, otherwise it's not democracy at work!
It is democracy tho if elected councillors and council processes find him wanting? However, you’re in luck because apart from a criminal conviction or such , i understandthere is no mechanism a council can force a mayor out ..
A statement can also be made that the majority of Invercargill votes were not for Mr Clark. And in that sense was not the democratic preference. Your statement therefore is that the First past the Post democratic process found him successful. He was the product of that model of democratic system. And the situation now is a consequence of another component of the “ democratic system “ , where there similarly are mechanisms and tools aiming to ensure acccountability of the ratepayers thru FPP he now represents . Just saying.
It's embarrassing for Invercargill that this is how our Mayor is representing our City. If it's due to poor health (as is the claim) that he's acting so abysmally then he should step down for health reasons, or if it was an example of him showing his true personality (more likely) he should also resign for breaching the code of conduct and being an all-round below average human being.
Huge well done to the people speaking out against his vile behaviour - good work Sheree!
I hate to point out the obvious Panda but democracy works by way of the person who individually receives the most votes wins. i.e. first past the post. Clearly you live in the alternative world of the socialist left that believes that democracy is fine as long as its your type of democracy where you make the rules. Well you have to suck it up buttercup because it done work that way no mateer how much you whinge about it.
I too hate to “point out the obvious” that, yes he won the election but still more voted against him 🫢 As for me being a “buttercup”? That’s just silly, I’m a panda 🐼. Interesting that you’re throwing out the “socialist left” thing as pandas don’t care too much about left or right, we just understand right from wrong and good from bad kinda stuff.
You seem very tightly wound up by it all, you definitely should run with the passion you show but by the end of your statement I believe there was a little “brain fade” happening, be careful of that! It turns you into a horrible human at times.
Nobby is an elected representative. He goes when his time is up unless 'he' chooses otherwise. Who the hell does the CoC think they are trying to oust a publibly elected official. They should shut the hell up and stick to their knitting.
Thats the funny thing about democracy. More people voted for him in 2022 then not and that's why he's mayor. If they want to change their mind they can do that at the next election.
He was democratically voted in. Shouldn't he be democratically voted out, not forced out?

So you’re all good with rate money going towards that then

Bye Nobby...

At least Tim was only getting a bit senile at the end...

He’s damaged (and continues to) the reputation of the city! You realise more people voted against him don’t you?

Actually you’ll find more voted against him and for others in 2022 google
