Southland Boys’ High School has won the South Island Under-15 rugby tournament for the second straight year.
Southland Boys’ beat Christchurch’s St Andrew’s College 26-14 in the South Island U15 final on Wednesday.
The U15 South Island title comes hard on the heels of the school’s first XV also winning a South Island title when it beat Christchurch Boys’ High School in its final.
The Southland Boys’ High School first XV will now take on Palmerston North Boys’ High School in a National Top 4 semifinal showdown on Friday in Palmerston North.

Head along to the Grand Foyer at the Civic on the first Friday every month from 5pm – 7pm. First Friday is all about connections: it’s your chance to relax and kick off your weekend in style, without any fear-induced chit-chat about the weather.
Whether you’re going with a crew from your workplace, or simply flying solo, join us for live music, tasty nibbles, and a casual atmosphere that’s miles apart from traditional networking events.
For September, the First Friday event will be hosted by Chroma the Lgbtqia+ Initiative for Southland. Be treated to the smooth sounds from pianist Beth Duffill-Brookes, who you may recognise from the first Upstage: Invercargill Festival of Cabaret.

Netball boost: Hundreds of netballers have converged on Invercargill in a boost for accommodation providers and other businesses. For the first time in nine years Invercargill is this week hosting the South Island secondary schools netball tournament. (READ MORE HERE).
