Tour Countdown: From competitor to first-time tour director
The 2023 SBS Bank Tour of Southland will be Glen Thomson’s first as the tour’s race director. It’s a pretty big deal given few have held the role since the race was first launched in 1956. For 35 years Bruce Ross was in charge before he handed over the reins after the 2019 tour to Sally Marr. Now it’s Thomson’s turn. (READ MORE HERE).

National/international basketball - Wednesday to Saturday - ILT Stadium Southland
The 3x3 Cup will start in Invercargill today (Wednesday) with 14 teams contesting the men’s competition and 10 in the women’s competition. As an added bonus New Zealand and Australian men’s and women’s teams will go at it.
The first session on Day 1 today starts at 11.05am and will run through until about 3pm.
The evening session - which will include the international games - is scheduled to start at 6.05pm.
