Sneak peek of nearly finished museum collection storage facility
Invercargill City Councillors have been treated to a first look at the almost-complete Tisbury Storage Facility. The $10m facility – part of Council’s Project 1225 which includes Invercargill’s new museum – will house precious museum collection items when they are not on public display. (READ MORE HERE)
Duffy 'fired up' for Southland homecoming with Volts
There’s an Otago Volts player with a touch more excitement than most about the start of the Ford Trophy competition on Saturday. The Volts will begin their Ford Trophy 50-over per side campaign with a showdown against Auckland at Queens Park in Invercargill on Saturday. (READ MORE HERE).

Southland Santa Parade - Saturday - inner city Invercargill
Santa will be making his appearance in the Southland Santa Parade on Saturday.
The Invercargill Annual Christmas Parade, proudly presented by the Southland Santa Parade Trust, is a festive spectacle that lights up the city centre every last Saturday of November.
Kicking off at 1pm, the parade features a vibrant array of floats sponsored by local businesses and non-profits, along with enthusiastic walkers and performers. Everyone is welcome to join in the festive spirit!
Following the parade, a delightful family gala day awaits at the Gala Street Reserve, starting from 2.30pm. This cherished tradition is a way for Santa, his elves, and helpers to spread joy to the families and communities of Southland.

What now? From 3pm on Saturday one of the key pieces to Invercargill’s inner city jigsaw puzzle will sit largely empty and unused. For over 100 years the H&J Smith department store has operated from its 12000sqm site which is bordered by Kelvin, Esk, and Tay Streets. The department store will close for the final time on Saturday leaving question marks attached to the future of such a key site. (READ MORE HERE).
30 years: John Green arrived from Auckland with a young family to start the H&J Smith chief executive job on April 12, 1994. The plan was to spend three to five years in Invercargill before moving on. Green’s now eight months shy of 30 years in the role. (READ MORE HERE).
