Penny Simmonds has got straight to work in her quest to disestablish New Zealand’s centralised polytechnic organisation - Te Pūkenga. The new Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills sent a “letter of expectation” to the Te Pūkenga council this week in relation to the planned disestablishment. (READ MORE HERE).

The Merry Little Christmas Concert - December 17 - ILT Stadium Southland
The Merry Little Christmas Concert is back once again, with another fabulous original story directed by local performing arts legend Caleb Bell.
Featuring an all-local cast of incredibly talented artists and the wonderful dancers from La Muse!
Produced specifically for our young tamariki, this 1 hour show brings so much Christmas joy through song, dance and storytelling.
Thanks to the ILT Foundation, entry to this event is Koha (a donation/gold coin) per person at the door.
Organisers encourage your little ones to dress up, whether it's Christmas-themed or in their favourite costume.
There will be GLOW merchandise for sale before the show, and a short 20-minute intermission to get your refreshments or pop to the bathroom.

Racing: Owner-trainers the Dennis brothers are planning a trip to Wellington to start The Radiant One in the $450,000 Telegraph at Trentham on January 13. The Southland horse’s runs for third and fourth in the major sprint races, the Pegasus Stakes and Stewards Stakes, at the New Zealand Cup meeting in Christchurch in November convinced the brothers to aim her at the Group I Telegraph.
