Tribune Shoutout…
Ruby Bath was victorious in one of Southland cycling’s more historic races last night [Thursday] when she finished first in the Stonewood Homes Gore to Invercargill Classic.
Bath - a daughter of former Tour of Southland winner Doug Bath - was one of the first riders away in the handicap race.
She as part of a group that also included second and third-place finishers Ken Thomas and Mike McLeod.
Marshall Erwood was part of a large group of impressive riders who started off scratch giving up 29 minutes on those that set off first.
Erwood couldn’t catch Bath, Thomas, and McLeod and had to settle for fourth. Although Erwood did pick up the fastest time honour.
The fastest under-19 rider was Magnus Jamieson.
Oliver Keast was victorious in the junior Gore to Invercargill also raced last night.
Riding off break, Keast sprinted to the finish ahead of Benson Boys and Benjie Shayler in third.
