Invercargill mayor Nobby Clark sees merit in closing Esk St to cars in the future, but is personal thoughts is to have a trial period next summer but leave it open to cars during the winter (READ MORE HERE).

Why Southland is a gem…. Reason #3
(We think it’s worth reminding ourselves why Southland is such a special place, so that’s what we will do regularly)
We a spoilt in Southland with all of our quality parks and Dolamore Park rates right up there. Located 11km from Gore at the south-west end of the Croydon Bush Scenic Reserve, on the lower slopes of the Hokonui Hills, Dolamore Park offers something for everyone.
The park features 95 hectares of native forest, expansive lawn areas and a range of exotic plantings. There’s a disc golf course there and you can also camp at Dolamore Park. There are unlimited tent sites, 22 power points for campervans to hook up to and electric BBQs to use. There are also kitchen and shower facilities. The camp fees are (per night): $10 per adult, $2 for school age children, and free for under-5s.
Dolamore Park is well worth a visit.

Summer Sounds Bluff - Sunday, January 29
After a brief hiatus last year Summer Sounds Bluff returns to the Gunpit in Bluff on Sunday. The concert begins at 2pm and entertainment will include Darcy Kerr plus the talented JEM – Emmy Roderique, Jack Dempster and Michaela Leadley.
The Gunpit has proven to be an iconic venue since it was first utilised in 2018 providing a natural amphitheatre around the World War 2 Coastal Defence Battery Observation Post. It is the ideal site to picnic while enjoying an afternoon of music.
Access to the venue is either via a 5-minute uphill walk from Stirling Point or from Gunpit Road in Bluff. Summer Sounds is a Bluff Promotions event with the support of the Creative Communities Scheme, Bluff Engineering & Welding, i Hire Invercargill, the Department of Conservation and Te Rūnanga O Awarua.
