Brewing beer: The quest to crack an 'over-subscribed market'
Hopsession Brewing currently brews about 200-litres per month and supplies five Invercargill outlets. The plan is to soon ram up that capacity to produce 1600-litres a month and grow the business. And it’s all happening from Nathan McKenzie’s home garage. (READ MORE HERE)
Stories Elsewhere…. (Nobby Clark and the draft apology)
Documents released to The Spinoff revealed Invercargill mayor Nobby Clark was provided with a draft apology by the council’s strategic communications manager after using the ‘n-word’ in a recent speech where he was asking questions of the art community. However, Clark declined the advice to apologise and it seems to have upset some council staff. Read the Spinoff article in full here.

Why Southland is a gem…. Reason #36
(We think it’s worth reminding ourselves why Southland is such a special place, so that’s what we’ll do regularly)
The Gore Public Gardens. This area is listed as a Garden of National Significance by the New Zealand Gardens Trust.
The original parkland area of Gore, the gardens can be easily found in the town’s green belt, bounded by Fairfield and Ardwick streets. Created in 1906, the land was originally set aside back in 1874. The garden was designed by David Tannock, famed for his work for the Dunedin Botanic Garden.
Visitors to the garden will find a selection of mature trees including a gigantic Wellingtonia and two horizontal elms, as well as exotic trees and shrubs including several rare and unusual specimens in the extensive conifer border. (Blurb credit: Gore NZ).
