Stuff journalist Kevin Norquay’s interview with Tiwai Point boss Chris Blenkiron in the Sunday Star Times was a somewhat encouraging one. Looking at it through a Southland lens at least. It's worth saving, and that's the path that kind of led me to say, ‘I'll go and have a crack at that’.” Keeping Tiwai open while also diversifying Southland’s is the mission worth chasing. Along came Volleyball Southland with a unique and spectacular idea. It wanted to turn it into a beach volleyball arena.
After some financial backing and plenty of volunteer work, Southland can lay claim to the world’s southernmost beach volleyball complex right in the heart of Invercargill’s inner city.
