Silver Ferns to play Australia in Invercargill
Invercargill will host a New Zealand-Australia netball test this year. It has been confirmed the Silver Ferns will play Australia in four Constellation Cup netball tests in October, with Invercargill gaining hosting rights for one of them. (READ MORE HERE).
Mataura water treatment plant to get $3.5 million upgrade
The Mataura water treatment plant is getting a multi-million dollar upgrade that will ensure drinking water for the town's residents meets national standards. The upgrade includes installing an ultraviolet (UV) system, replacing and upgrading the old pipework, pumps and other mechanical equipment, and modernising all the electrical controls. Harness racing at Central Southland Raceway - Thursday, April 13
A full day of quality harness racing is scheduled for Central Southland Raceway in Winton tomorrow [Thursday].
Twelve races are scheduled, with the first at 11.37am. There are several highlights on the programme, none more so than the Southern Standardbred Breeders Association / Vet South Equine Southern Belle Series Final over 1609m for a stake of $30,000 timed for 3.56pm.
Other features include the $20,000 Winton Businesses Cup over 2400m at 4.23pm and heats of both the Macca Lodge / Nevele R Stud Southern Oaks and the Alabar NZ Ltd Southern Supremacy Stakes, each one the final heats before the respective finals on Diamonds Day at Invercargill on Sunday 23 April.
