Marty Banks: I was nervous transferring to the Southland Stags
Marty Banks suggests a survey of Stags fans at Rugby Park in Invercargill is probably needed to find a formula for the NPC’s survival throughout the country. The veteran first five-eighth has spoken glowing of the passion shown by Southland Stags supporters. He has also revealed the frustration amongst the playing group that they haven’t been able to repay those supporters with wins in recent years. (READ MORE HERE).

An Invercargill champion boxer is fighting the biggest bout of her career as she battles the disadvantage faced by young people in her community. Boxer-turned-trainer Faliu Mauu has been shaping the lives of rangatahi in Invercargill for the past 7 years, training them from whatever space was available, and footing the cost from her own back pocket. Southland Stags draft in loosehead prop
Former New Zealand secondary schools prop Jack Sexton has joined the Southland Stags to help ease the loosehead propping concerns. Sexton is likely to be fast-tracked into the Stags 23 for Saturday’s game against Hawke’s Bay at Rugby Park in Invercargill. (READ MORE HERE).

Southland Stags v Hawke’s Bay - 2.05pm Saturday - Rugby Park
After two games away from home the Stags are back at Rugby Park for a Saturday afternoon game in Invercargill.
The Stags have knocked loudly on the door for their first win in 2023 without it opening. With your support that could change on Saturday.
Saturday’s game is “club round” where club rugby connections are being celebrated. People are encouraged to wear their club colours.
The national champion Southland Boys’ High School first XV will also be celebrated with a lap of honour at halftime.

Sporting future? Three Invercargill sports clubs are investigating a possible hub development that could revolutionize how community groups work together in Southland. The Old Boys Football Association Club, Star Rugby Club, and Waverley Bowling Club have agreed to create an independent board that will look to at opportunities across its Waverley Park facilities. Special jersey: The Southland Stags are set to run out in a yet-to-be-revealed one-off playing jersey when they take on Bay of Plenty in Invercargill on Wednesday, September 27. The hope is the special jerseys will help raise plenty of money for The Hawthorndale Care Village. (READ MORE HERE).
