Blake Tempero has had to remind himself to park the stress this week and enjoy the moment. At 24, Tempero is young in terms of taking on a head groundsman role at a first-class cricketing venue in New Zealand. Popular rugby tournament back for sixth edition
All roads lead to Otautau today with the popular annual Jonty Carran Memorial Tackle 10s tournament to be held in the Southland town. The 2023 tournament will be the sixth time it has been held and it is played in honour of a special Otautau lad. (READ MORE HERE).

Out & About…
Here’s something a bit different. On Sunday the MLT Event Centre in Gore is hosting the inaugural Southern Region Pickleball Tournament.
There will be 16 teams from Wanaka, Queenstown, Dunedin, Invercargill, and Timaru battling for the top spot.
So, what’s pickleball? It is the fastest-growing sport in the USA and has been described as a combination of ping-pong, tennis, and badminton.

Duffy’s homecoming: There’s an Otago Volts player with a touch more excitement than most about the start of the Ford Trophy competition on Saturday. The Volts will begin their Ford Trophy 50-over per side campaign with a showdown against Auckland at Queens Park in Invercargill on Saturday. (READ MORE HERE).
Big Week: It’s been a stellar week for Southland’s Brendon Leitch competing in Lamborghini Super Trofeo competitions in Italy. First, Letich won the Super Trofeo Europe series Pro title then went on to finish third in the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals, a coming together of all three global Super Trofeo series including North America and Asia.
