Southlander wins first stage at Tour de Luxembourg…
Southland cyclist Corbin Strong has won the first stage of the 2023 Tour de Luxembourg and has his hands on the yellow tour leaders jesrey.
Strong, who competes for the Israel – Premier Tech team, won a sprint finish ahead of Søren Kragh Andersen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Alex Aranburu (Team Movistar) after 156.4km between Neumünster Abbey in Luxembourg-Grund and the finish in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
“It’s a great feeling. My team worked really well for me. I’ve been in good form all year, but I’ve never managed to win. So I’m particularly happy. It’s very cool to start the race this way. I’m looking forward to the next few days in Luxembourg,” Strong said after the victory.
Strong is coming off the back of his first ride in the Tour de France this year.
The Tour of Luxembourg will run through to September 24.
